We regularly analyze the information related to our software – JoomLMS. This information is taken from various sources: JoomLMS forum discussions, business communication with our customers etc. The information from our technical support service helpdesk is also very important for us. This post was inspired by one of the helpdesk requests. Some of the customers think that there is very little possibility to improve and vary JoomLMS course materials layout visually. We decided to look into this issue deeper.

Recently the term e-Learning has often been encountered in the form of Social e-Learning. Social e-Learning is learning enhanced by exchanging information via social networks. This term can be elaborated by three words – learn via communication. A certificate is an official proof of the qualification of an employee. Receiving a certificate increases the competitiveness and thus provides one of the stimuli for further education. But this is in theory. And in practice a certificate is only worth something when it is backed up by real knowledge.

JoomLMS provides a flexible set of parameters for the certificates.

JoomLMS has received several enquiries regarding the compatibility of JoomLMS and course modules created in ARTICULATE software. ARTICULATE allows publishing courses in AICC, SCORM 1.2 as well as in SCORM 2004 (2nd and 3rd editions). AICC format isn’t supported by JoomLMS, and as regards SCORM 2004 (3rd edition) there are known issues with certain sequencing and navigation mechanisms. Nevertheless our experience shows that this issue usually goes unnoticed by our customers since these mechanisms are very rarely used. Still to guarantee full compatibility with JoomLMS we recommend to use SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 (2nd edition).

When you develop an online course it is important to structure it in the right way. It is necessary to realize what content should be included in the course, into how many chapters it should be divided and to define the way the content is to be presented. This can be presentations, videos (recorded lectures or webinars), texts, tables, images, flash training modules, quizzes etc.
